Chromeo (Toronto, Canada)
Chromeo’s Dave 1 and P-Thugg like to joke that they’re the “only successful Arab/Jewish partnership since the dawn of human culture,” but they’re really so much more than that. Chromeo offers up the kind of badass funky Electro Pop that could easily squash Daft Punk’s hopes and dreams of world radio domination. And Chromeo just might do that. There’s a hilarious Funny or Die skit, a fashion line in the works and yet another awesome commercial placement (this time to Johnny Appleseed Hard Cider) being tossed at whoever will latch on. While the French Disco Funk gods may have burst through the mainstream’s door with an annoyingly catchy tune, Chromeo is wiggling into our lives in a less obnoxious fashion and then sticking around to make sweet love with our playlists. Accept it.
